Do not go where the path may lead, go instead
where there is no path and leave a trail.

Where are you living now: Palms/Los Angeles CA

After graduation: SMCC then joined the Marines in early 63, missed Viet Nam, thank God. I had always been interested in the performing arts, I continued studying acting privately with numerous teachers in Hollywood.

What were your favorite places in Culver City: Keener's (Bill's family owned ice cream), The saucy dog, the nearby Palms Theater, MGM lot3, Johnnies Pastrami, Airport Village-19 cent hamburger, smelling the bread of Helms Bakery, I'm on a roll here, hopping on the Culver Blvd. trains/boxcars with Larry Larson, tearing down the Egyptian House, the Meralta, the Culver Theater on Friday nights, The Clock, Fosters for a burger w/extra pickles, Kings Tropical Inn. Watching the pin boys(men) at the rear of the CC bowling alley, my mom's beauty salon (Raye's Beauty Salon) on a busy Saturday afternoon, it was a pompador, hairstylin zoo....Ma Carpenter's 5th period class...and climbing out onto a carpenter's ledge at the very top of the unfinished Vet's Memorial, I'm definitely lucky to be here.

Interests: I've always loved mostly acting and writing but I've been in all sorts of sales related business, but mostly show business. I've done theater as an actor and probably gravitated to the performing arts side of business as I turned out as a casting director in 1969 at Paramount doing, The Brady Bunch, The Odd Couple and Love American Style; CBS on The Young and the Restless, NBC on Days of Our Lives. Tons of stuff, "Kentucky Fried Movie", it's all in my book.  I have also acted and written and still pursue production development. I've always aspired to Picasso's quote where he said we're all artists and one should be having enormous fun in their life pursuits making money. Photography, the visual arts, has always been of great interest  too and I'm at present creating a greeting card line, Son of a Son Greeting Cards, now a registered Trademark, soon to be up and running at: So kids, I ain't done, I will be when they lower me down... and that frankly, has little interest to me, I'm not going anywhere, I'm booked....

Additional Comments: "Tale's of a Hollywood Casting Director" is the book I wrote and can be found now at A memoir, It chronicles my beginnings from our beloved Culver City, exploring MGM lot3 with Paul Ostoja/Mickey Martin, then to 25 plus years acting/casting, working on the different shows around town I did. I feel it's a fun, uplifting read for anyone, from any walk of life. And kids, I raised three sons, ones a PH.D. out of UC Irvine, my middle boy teaches school at CCHS and the middle school and my youngest is a building contractor in Hawaii. Needless to say I'm pleased to be here.
